Popular Dog Websites

Here is information on popular dog websites that are used by visitors to this site:

Australian Shepherd

This person had three Australian Shepherds while another person had two that were mixed with Border Collies. Read more here

Basset Hound

I have an 8 month old male Basset Hound. I use websites such as the AKC and Wikipedia to find information. They have been somewhat informative, especially about the Breed information, but there it would be nice to have some more training tips. I would recommend them for research before getting the dog, but not for help after you have the dog.

Beagle

Visit the Beagles websites page to see where some of our Beagle owning contributors go for breed information.

Bichon Frise

We have 2 Bichon Frises, a 5 year old male and 7 year old female. We like to use www.eurobichons.com. Yes this website has been an excellent source of information about Bichons. One great idea that came from the web site was to feed the dog green beans to help lower their weight instead of a expensive special dog food the vet recommended. The dogs love it and cost half as much. Yes I would recommend this website! I think these website serve a great service by allowing the breed owners to see they are not alone with their problems etc.

Blue Heeler

This is also known as an Australian Cattle Dog. I use a website called www.dogbreedinfo.com its very useful for me. It contains info on tons of dog breeds, so I would definitely recommend it to anyone needing info on the dog breed. I have not used the site to solve problems with my 2 yo Blue Heeler because nothing has ever been wrong with him, and I hope it stays that way for a long time.

Border Collie

Here are some Border Collie websites that some of our contributors have used.

Boxer

Boxer owners have provided great input on the Boxer websites they use.

Cane Corso

Cane Corso PuppySovrana Cane Corso is a top quality, ethical Cane Corso breeder located outside of Atlanta, Georgia.  All of their puppies come from champion lines and have 2-year health guarantees, vaccinations, registration, and lifetime support.  Check out their website for puppy availability, photos, videos, information, and more.

Chihuahua

Here are some of the Chihuahua websites that are popular with people who were kind enough to share information about their Chihuahuas.

Chow Chow

I have a Chow Chow. He is beautiful. He looks like a big bear. Smokey is 8 years old. I have had him since he was 6 months old. The website that I have used is: www.canismajor.com/dog/chowchow. This website has helped me greatly. It has taught me things like what to expect as far as my Chow Chow's behavior, their temper, and also where the dog originated from. I highly recommend this website for others that are going to have this kind of dog as a pet. I have found out not only through this website, but also through experience that a Chow Chow is very moody. They pretty much do what they want to do. Sometimes they like to cuddle and sometimes you just give them their own space.

Cocker Spaniel

About Cocker Spaniels is a detailed and well-researched guide to caring for your Cocker Spaniel. The website offers advice on how to buy a Cocker Spaniel puppy, including how to locate a reliable breeder, and what to look for when choosing your puppy from among its litter mates. You'll also find grooming tips and advice on training your dog.

I own a three year old Cocker Spaniel that I acquired through an animal shelter. I have used peteducation.com/ to help find answers to questions I may have concerning my new dog. I find this web site helpful in answering any query I may have. I recommend this site for anyone who owns a dog or a cat. Another good site for anyone considering owner a Cocker is the website dogbreedinfo.com/americancocker.htm. It tells you a lot about the Cocker, how to train it, socialize it, etc. A must for those considering getting one.

Collies

Some Collie websites that owners of this breed use.

Dachshund

You'll find these Dachshund websites very helpful.

Doberman

I have a dog of Doberman breed. She is now 7 years old. I generally use www.chazhound.com to get information about my dog. Although I know many others but this site suits me better to use. Yes, this website certainly solves my problems regarding my dog. If you ask how, I must mention one of the links of this site "pet Care Center". This link has really done a lot for me. I have vaccinated my dog with the help of this link. Once my dog started to reject food; whatever might be given to it. I was about to go mad at that time. But thanks to this site and the link on it. I found the reasons and accordingly consulted a veterinary doctor and finally got my dog cured. By all means from the core of my heart I would recommend this site to other pet owners. This will sure to help them a lot like it did to me. This site I think is designed for complete laymen. Any person who does not know any technical things about dogs but having a dog must visit this site.

English Pointer

I have 2 dogs. An English Pointer named Angel, she is 10, and an Australian Shepherd named Manson, he is 7. I get my information off Yahoo! Pets and also Purina. Yes, they have helped me. It helped me figure out what kind of pet I should own. It also tells me why my dog behaves a certain way, what their shedding habits are, etc. I would recommend these websites. They are very helpful. I've also found good answers to my questions using Google and Petco/Petsmart websites.

My English Pointer is 2 1/2 years old. I use wikipedia.com, akc.org, k9atf.com, yahoo.com, and aspca.org/pet-care/poison-control/. My dog ate a bottle of pills when she was 6 months old. I used ALL of these sites to find out the long term effects the pills would have on her. Also, used three of the sites prior to getting a dog to help me choose the breed I wanted.

French Bulldog

I have a 2 1/2 yr old French Bulldog. If I need any information on him I always search on Google first. He is pretty healthy so I've not really had to find much information on his breed online. These are very affectionate little dogs with a lot of personality. I will warn that they like very much to chew on things and a lot of the information I've read say they are very good apartment dogs and are kind of lazy. If that is a fact then mine is not the normal standard. You could walk him 10 miles a day and take him to the dog park for a couple of hours and he could go on and on and on.

German Shepherd

Here are lots of websites that are used by German Shepherd owners.

Golden Retriever

Lots of our readers have Golden Retrievers.  Here are some of their favorite Golden Retriever websites

Keeshond

My Keeshond is 6 years old. I use dogbreedinfo.com/keeshond and yes, they gave a lot of information about the breed.  The site was very helpful it is important to research the breed because your want you make sure that the dog breed is compatible for your lifestyle.

Labrador Retriever

I have a 13-year-old Black Lab. Three years ago he was diagnosed with diabetes and we have been giving him daily insulin shots since then. One site I visit frequently (and have for years) is vetinfo.com This site was incredibly helpful and actually wound up saving my dog's life. When he first got sick I looked up information on the site and learned that his symptoms (drinking lots of water, urinating frequently, etc) were consistent with diabetes. Because of that we were able to get him to the vet and get him diagnosed in time so we could still do something about it.

I also visit caninediabetes.org frequently for help with managing his diabetes. dogfoodanalysis.com Dog food analysis rates and reviews dog food and has information on ingredients. It is a great site for finding a healthy food for your dog no matter what age they are. Feeding a quality dog food can help prevent your dog from winding up with serious diseases (like diabetes or cancer) and it is well worth the time to research the food that they eat. justlabradors.com has lots of good Labrador articles and an active breed specific forum

Lhasa Apso

I have a 16 year old Lhasa Apso/Pug mix. I use Craigslist forums and community areas to ask questions/receive answers about anything I need to know. I had a question about clipping my dogs nails, because she hated getting them cut, so I asked what other people thought of the Pedipaws or Dremmel. I ended up buying a Pedipaw, and she sits through getting her nails done without crying or trying to get away! I would definitely recommend this website for others who have questions about the well being of their dogs.

Pit Bull

Of all the Pit Bull websites our readers use, Pit Bull Lovers clearly stands out.

Pug

Here are some Pug websites that are used by our contributors.

Shetland Sheepdog

My Shetland Sheepdog (Sheltie) is 5 years old. I use the AKC website and also the Shetland Sheepdog website that is specific to my dog. I have also used the Purina Dog Food website. I think the websites have been helpful in answering some questions and giving me answers to why my dog does some of the things she does. I would recommend the websites, but for anything serious, I would always call the vet.
